ASRA Membership Survey Cover Letter

April 9, 1999

Dear ASRA Member.

Two months ago you received a memo, requesting an indication of your interest in participating in a 1999 "Cost of Doing Business" Survey. The response was enthusiastic. Accordingly, the following questionnaire has been prepared with the input from the ASRA Board of Directors, the CCAR Committee and MDA. It is now being forwarded to you for your completion and return to the ASRA office.

As you know, the collision industry has not seen an increase in door rates for well over two years. The purpose of this survey is to establish an up-to-date rationale that will clearly document the cost of doing business in Alberta's Collision industry in 1999. This information will be delivered to the insurance companies in a non-confrontational manner and strong lobbying will take place on behalf of the membership.

Here is the process.

  1. Please fill out all the questions to the best of your ability. Base your answers on your last year-end statement.
  2. Return to the office as soon as possible. You can fax your response back, marked "Confidential", or you may prefer to mail your response to me with "Confidential" marked on the envelope. What ever you choose, you are guaranteed that your response with be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
  3. Your response will be reviewed by our Chartered Accountant. If he has any questions, he will call you directly for clarification.
  4. Your company name will be removed from all reference material. The information you provide will be categorized and assembled into an official document.
  5. An official document will be provided to you as an ASRA member for your comment and input.
  6. A series of meetings will take place with representatives of the insurance industry to begin as soon as possible. The timing will depend on your prompt reply.

Please call me, if you have any questions, or need clarification, and most important, please return the completed questionnaire as soon as possible. Negotiations dealing with door rates are best done on a collective basis through your association. By establishing true costs ASRA's lobbying will help insure that the consumer receives quality service at a price that is fair to all, including you. This is an important member service that will succeed only with your participation.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
Marjorie Zingle,
Executive Director
